As you read through the list keep in mind that this is not your typical dining guide, it is simply our favorite Breckenridge Restaurants that we love and frequent as long time locals. Here at Book Breck we consider ourselves your local friends and hosts and as such feel an obligation to point you in the right direction.
Kava Café is situated at the north end of Main Street, your mouth will start to water long before entering this little hole in the wall. Serving fresh hot mini-donuts right out of the fryer with vanilla, cinnamon or chocolate toppings in bags of six or a dozen plus breakfast bagels and burritos topped with your choice of bacon or sausage Kava Café makes it easy for you to grab breakfast on your way to the Breck Connect Gondola. Kava gets our vote for best breakfast in town.
Cuppa Joe Coffee Shop is a step above the rest – literally. Sitting on Ridge Street one block and a flight of stairs up from Main Street this new coffee shop is a delight to all. Serving dark roast coffee prepared on the spot in an over-sized French press and breakfast sandwiches with a delicious twist and over-sized breakfast burritos with vegan options for guests with a slightly more discriminating palate.
The Blue Moose serves hearty, home-cooked meals, generous portions, in a family atmosphere. The Blue Moose has been a locals favorite for years. Parking is limited but do not let that deter you. Park at the Ice Rink on Boreas Pass road and hop on the Main Street trolley or take a stroll to the Blue Moose from the ice rink parking lot and help burn off those delicious breakfast calories.
Bold serves a full-on high quality breakfast, followed by a Mediterranean-influenced lunch, happy hour and dinner. Bold gets our vote for best unique menu selections.
Downstairs at Eric’s is the ideal kid-friendly restaurant. Venture downstairs through the sticker covered doors, past the arcade and into the dining area where a surplus of friendly servers will greet you with a big smile and an even bigger menu. We recommend the garbage pizza on honey wheat crust, but its hard to find something on this huge menu that you wouldn’t order twice. They also have an expansive beer list so parents can unwind while the kids play PAC-man. Downstairs at Eric’s gets our vote for best fun place for kids.
The Canteen Tap House & Tavern is a locally owned and operated restaurant in Breckenridge, Colorado. They specialize in modern comfort food, Colorado beer, handcrafted cocktails, world-class wines and superior guest experience. Dine this summer on their newly renovated Main Street outdoor deck.
Giampietro’s Pizzeria is reminiscent of a New York pizzeria in the heart of downtown Breckenridge. Giampietro’s gets our vote for best pizza. Stop in for an over-sized slice to go or grab a seat at the bar or a table and peruse the expansive menu. Keep it safe and stick with the classics such as pepperoni pizza and meatball marinara or venture out and try their spinach artichoke pizza and pesto mussels, either way you are in for a treat. To complete the perfect Italian meal try one of their cannoli’s – you won’t be sorry!
Breckenridge Brewery & Pub has been in Breck since 1990. They offer breathtaking views of the mountains from the dining room and patio, an eclectic menu, and a wide selection of beer styles ranging from traditional ales, lagers, sours, saisons, and barrel-aged beer.
Southridge Seafood offers a tasty menu of “things that swim and that don’t.” Each original dish offers a little bit of a twist with an Asian flare. I recommend indulging in a flirty cocktail at the bar while you wait followed by a cup of clam chowder and an entree of your choosing. Southridge also has one of the best outdoor decks in Breckenridge!
Relish Colorado Inspired Cuisine offers boutique fine dining with a seasonal rotating menu. Each season seems to outdo the one before it so it is hard to go wrong here. Always favoring what’s fresh, this chef-owned restaurant has become a local hot spot for a great meal on the patio or a refreshing beer selected from their custom designed beer cellar or a flavorful glass of wine from one of the many small family owned wineries they work with.
Mountain Flying Fish offers some of the freshest fish west of Hawaii. It is flown in daily and used to create mouthwateringly original rolls that you will not find anywhere else. There is a special board behind the sushi bar and you must try at least one thing off of it, or else you won’t be able to truly grasp how tasty their food is. But don’t let the lack of décor scare you away. The expansive windows looking out on the slopes and minimal art work allows the tasty food to speaks for itself. Best fresh fish vote definitely goes to Mountain Flying Fish.
Hearthstone Restaurant is a classic and a goody here in Breckenridge, Colorado. The cuisine is fine dining with Colorado flair. The historic restaurant sits in the Kaiser home which is more than 100 years old. The décor is traditional with white table cloths, dark walls and ornate chandeliers. The food fits in accordingly, rich and tasteful. Sit down with a full bodied Merlot and sample everything from finely cut steaks to freshly caught fish. Hearthstone gets our vote for best fine dining in Breckenridge.
Blue River Bistro offers fine dining food for budget-conscious guests. Grab a seat at the bar and select from a blue cheese burger with applewood smoked bacon or a flank steak gyro perfectly complimented by a side order of season fries or a house salad with your choice of dressing. Wash it down with a cold draft beer or a bubbly soda for only $9. Blue River Bistro also happens to be top on our list for best happy hour in town. Don’t pass up the chocolate martini!
There are dozens of delicious and fun places to eat on Main Street, but if you’re super tired at the end of an adventurous day and don’t want to cook a meal in your vacation home, a quick and easy restaurant stop without crowds or parking hassles might be the way to go.
The City Market shopping center on Park Avenue offers 3 choices with easy and free parking: The City Market Deli, Soupz On, or Windy City Pizza (not just pizza, they also have a $5 breakfast and other menu items later in the day). All yummy and rated thumbs up by our staff. The Mugshot Cafe, Breck Fast, The Hangar, Waves, and Breckenridge Distillery on Airport Road are also out-of-the-way spots with free/easy parking.
