Owner/Manager: Imane Deininger
I became owner of Book Breck in 2008 largely in part by mere chance, and I am so glad I did. With a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and master’s degree in Public Administration, being a small business owner in the vacation rental world does not seem a natural progression. In hindsight, however, it’s as if everything has lead up to it.
I spent my college years working in the hospitality industry and learning the qualities of good customer service before social networking was all the rage. I even had the good fortune of working in different tourist communities from St Croix, USVI to Paris, France.
Years later, I followed a lifelong dream by serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Burkina Faso. There I learned what it truly takes to work with others. I also had my first experience building a project from the ground up, including planning the daily logistics, revenue and expense projections, and long term sustainability. It was this latter experience combined with my time as Program Director at a Family Center that led me to pursue a Master in Public Administration.
While working toward my master’s degree, my love affair with Breckenridge was beginning to truly take hold. I had already fallen in love with the quaintness of the town, the sense of community among the residents, the ebb and flow of the visitor with the change of seasons, and the exquisite restaurants, boutiques and galleries. My (now) husband, Pete Deininger, was slowly introducing me to all the things that made him fall in love with the area ten years earlier: mountain biking, cross-country skiing, hot springs, and of course, skiing! Having grown up on the beach just south of Casablanca then in Tucson, I was a little nervous taking on this last winter sport. Now, I love sharing my experience and love of skiing with other beginner/intermediate skiers.
As a vacation rental business owner, I am able to pull from all my experiences and passions: efficiency, organization and finding new ways to improve customer service in the true sense of the words…serving the customer by discovering your needs and meeting them. I am also able to draw from my love of the outdoors, the neighborly way of life of a small town, and the balance of work and play that a town like Breckenridge draws out.

I was born and raised in Texas by a family who loved the Colorado mountains and owned a vacation home in South Fork, Colorado. From the time I was very young, I was drawn to the rocky mountains and proclaimed I would be going to Colorado to live someday, not just to vacation.
For many years, I counted the days down to each trip until I was back in Colorado for hiking, biking, skiing, and just enjoying the beauty of this majestic state, and especially the magic of Breckenridge. Long weekends and even summer-long stays were never enough and then I was finally able to become a Breckenridge homeowner and resident.
I bring my experience as a vacation home renter and my knowledge of the area to help provide our Book Breck guests with an experience that makes them feel like they have a friend away from home to ensure their vacation is an unforgettable experience. I am extremely happy to be working for a company with employees who strive to ensure quality right down to the smallest details.
Housekeeping & Vacation Rental Manager: Kim Pofit
The moment I graduated from the University of New Hampshire with dual Bachelor’s degrees in Social Work and Psychology, I knew I wanted to move somewhere that would allow me to play in the snow-not just shovel my car out of it. I decided then and there Colorado was the place for me. When my summer-long internship at a Women’s Health Center wrapped up, I packed my bags and headed to Denver.
I quickly seized the opportunity to enroll in a three month seasonal Mile High Youth Corps (a branch of Americorps) program in the fall of 2011. I spent my first blissful Colorado months building trails, and working with the National Forestry Crew in a fire mitigation program; where I was eventually placed on a chainsaw crew. The teamwork, communication, and leadership skills I gained during those short few months were life changing. I also developed a deep understanding of the importance of Colorado wildlife and protecting the environment.
Once the program (sadly) came to an end, I set my sights on the mountains. I grew up in Upstate New York skiing the winters away, but nothing prepared me for the adventures that mountain life brings. After working for the resort as a Lift Operator, Gardener, and in Guest Services; as well as doing some light housekeeping on the side, I was ready to see what else Breckenridge had to offer.
I was immediately attracted to Book Breck’s values and commitment to remain Eco-friendly. When I was lucky enough to join the company as its third member, I was even more pleased at the friendliness, trustworthiness, and integrity of its individuals.
As the Housekeeping Inspector at Book Breck, I am able to take all of the skills I have gained through the years, and through my many adventures, and apply them towards making sure every guest we welcome to town has the best experience from the moment they open the front door of their vacation home-away-from-home. From attention to detail to excellent customer service, everything we do is well thought out and organized.
Together we strive to run an honest business with high standards, in the hopes to show guests a glimpse of the love we all hold for the beautiful town of Breckenridge. We are not just a vacation rental company, we want to be your local area guides and give you an unforgettable experience; so when you look back on your winter vacation you do so with a smile.
