Breckenridge Mountain Biking Trails
Boreas Pass (Beginner)
Boreas Pass is a ten mile road winding through neighborhoods before turning into a dirt road. From there, the road will take you up to the pass where you will be exposed to scenic views before a speedy yet gentle ride back down! The altitude, sitting at 11,482 feet, may be the only factor that could make this a difficult ride for some, but it’s one of the easiest mountain biking trails in town if you’re looking for a gentle journey with gorgeous outlook points. There is also a parking lot right where the road first turn to dirt if you prefer not to ride up the paved road.
Spruce Creek Road (Beginner)
Spruce Creek Road is a 4×4 trail loop that starts in Breckenridge and snakes through the mountains. You can be sure you’ll enjoy five miles of beautiful views and a ride that isn’t so much challenging as it is relaxing. You will also be able to access a number of trailheads from it to make it the ride last as long as you like, so there are plenty of opportunities for wandering off the beaten path and exploring a bit.
Peaks Trail (Intermediate)
Starting out at 10,500 feet, you’ll have a wild ride down Peaks Trail! You’ll wind through trees, around rocks, over roots, and more! This is probably one of the more popular Breckenridge mountain biking trails since it is the perfect blend of speedy downhills and laid back cruising. Make sure you watch out for the hikers, as it is also a popular walking trail. Once you have braved the mountain by bike, be sure to check out some of the other nearby hiking trails.
Trail from Barney Ford to Moonstone (Intermediate)
You’ll find nothing but downhill track on the Trail from Barney Ford to Moonstone. It’s the perfect early morning ride that will get you pumped up and energized for the rest of your day, and not to mention the great views you’ll be able to enjoy on the way down.
Colorado Trail: Kenosha Pass to Breckenridge (Advanced)
You will definitely want to catch an early start if you want to make it all the way through this 33 mile stretch of the Colorado Trail. It has it’s relaxing cruise moments in which you can take in the views and fresh mountain air, but the further you ride, you’ll find the strenuous uphill climbs and and speedy downhill rolls quite challenging that may be fit for more experienced bikers. If you’re up to the challenge, it’s a trip that is definitely worth taking.
