Breckenridge ski area offers more than 140 trails in over 2,208 acres with four interconnected mountains. Recent upgrades to the ski area, including the Peak 7 expansion, increased the ski area by 30 percent. The Super Connect quad chair lift makes it easy for the skiers to go from Peak 9 to Peak 8. Still making history
The Breckenridge Ski Resort, managed by Vail Resorts, was voted the #6 Overall Best Ski Resort, in North America, by Ski Magazine for the 2004 ski season and the #5 Best Overall Resort by Transworld Snowboarding in 2005. Breckenridge is known for its' 444: That's 4 Parks, 4 Pipes and 4 Peaks. No matter what your level, there's a park, a pipe or a peak for you. The terrain parks and half pipes in Breckenridge are known for their cutting-edge design, and the ski area is a haven for snowboarders and skiers alike. In 2005-2006, Breckenridge will be adding a new chairlift to the top of Imperial Bowl, the summit of Peak 8, making this the highest chairlift in North America - topping out at over 13,000 ft altitude. Plans are also in the works to expand the existing 6 Chair Lift to a quad-loading lift - increasing access to this more extreme, advanced terrain. Construction began in June 2005 to extend an additional ski run (the Skyway Skiway) from Peak 8 to the Free Parking Lots in downtown Breckenridge - making the need to shuttle down the mountain obsolete. In 2006 - 2007, Vail Resorts also plans to add a gondola from downtown Breckenridge to the base of Peak 8. This will be the first gondola in Breckenridge, eliminating need for shuttles to and from the mountain. Long-term plans also include expansion of the Peak 8 and Peak 7 base villages. Mountain Stats
