Breckenridge Summer Activities
One of the most commonly uttered phrases by long-time Breckenridge locals is: I came for the winters but stayed for the summers. Summer is truly a beautiful time of year here in Breckenridge and all of Summit County. While most of the winter activities revolve around some form of skiing and snowboarding, the Breckenridge summer activities are many and varied. Summer is when living at 9,600 feet is a true paradise. Temperatures are typically in the high 70's and low 80's. It's like spring time all summer long! Wild flowers like you've rarely seen fill the roadsides and cover the hills with a rainbow of colors. It is absolutely glorious to go for a walk, hike, or bike ride using the numerous trails all around Breckenridge. Many of the trails you can access right from your vacation lodging!
Whether you are the adventurous type and come to the mountains for hiking, mountain biking, whitewater rafting and golfing or you prefer to relax with a day at the spa, take a historic walking tour, listen to a classical concert at the Riverwalk Center or see a performance at the Backstage Theatre there is a Breckenridge summer activity for every visitor.
The town of Breckenridge puts together some great events for kids, families and adults. Kingdom Days, an annual heritage celebration, will be celebrated in June with mine tours, gun fights and live music. In July Breckenridge celebrates the 4th of July with a parade on Main Street and a fireworks display unlike any you've seen. The National Repertory Orchestra will be performing all summer long at the Riverwalk Center, with select performances on Friday afternoons as part of the Porch Series.
